Spring is Allergy Season!
Spring can be a tough time for people with allergies. When flowers and trees are blooming they make a lot of pollen. Pollen is in the air that we breath. Some people react to the pollen and it can cause sneezing, itchy eyes, and runny noses. If you are a person who suffers from these symptoms there are things that you can try in order to help lessen the symptoms.
- Avoid your triggers. Allergies have “triggers”. These are things that make your symptoms appear, or feel worse. Learn what triggers your allergies. Does it seem to be worse when you are around grass? Are there trees or flowers that seem to worsen your symptoms? Try to avoid areas or plants that you may be allergic to.
- Cover up. If you are going to be in areas that you know have plants or trees that you are allergic to wear a mask or carry a handkerchief to cover your mouth and nose.
- Keep your windows of your home closed. Pollen can enter into the home through open windows.
If you have allergies, talk to your primary care provider (PCP) about other things you can do to feel better. If you don’t have a PCP, call Customer Service at 1(800) 458-9518 and we can help you find one. |
